演講主題:A Taiwanese American History in the Making: Generations in Transition

Ho Chie Tsai is the creator of TaiwaneseAmerican.org - a website and now a new non-profit organization dedicated to connecting and highlighting the new generation of Taiwanese Americans. He has spent most of his life working to build organizations and networks that serve the Asian American community, but these days is known more for his popular "Stinky Tofu Walks Alone" and "I AM Taiwanese American" t-shirt designs. He is a popular speaker at Taiwanese American and Asian American student conferences and summer camps. Ho Chie is currently a board member of the Taiwanese American Foundation,  an advising director of Taiwanese American Professionals in San Francisco , and an organizer of the North American Taiwanese Medical Association 2G.

Professionally, Ho Chie is a board-certified pediatrician on staff at the Children’s Hospital and Research Center of Oakland, which serves an ethnically diverse and mostly under-privileged patient population. Additionally, he holds degrees in Electrical Engineering and Bioengineering, but will probably never use that knowledge ever again.

His personal mission is to inspire young people to discover their values and passions so that they can make a positive impact in this world.

演講主題:A Taiwanese American History in the Making: Generations in Transition

Ho Chie Tsai
, founder of TaiwaneseAmerican.org and long-time community organizer and activist, will recount stories of the 2nd generation experience, from the early immigration of the 1st generation and the formation of our community organizations, to the emergence of a new 2nd generation of Taiwanese Americans who are paving the way for our community and identity in mainstream America. Don't know much about our this next generation? You may be surprised about how they view themselves and what roles they are playing to shape our community. Ho Chie will share his observations about how our identities and communities are transforming over time, how our organizations are converging as we achieve critical mass, and how together the 1st and 2nd generations may play a role in defining the future of Taiwanese and Asian America.
